Former EPF and IPF official, Heiner Köberich, has passed away

The sad message has reached us that Mr. Heiner Köberich from Germany has passed away 78 years old.

Heiner Koberich was involved in powerlifting at national and international level for many years.
He was the  Secretary General in the German PF and developed a championship computer program which was used at championships in Germany and at European and World championships. He took the initiative and was the organiser of the very first European Women Powerlifting championship in Darmstadt in 1983.

In 1986, he was elected EPF GS and Treasurer, a position he held until 2003. Heiner Koberich was one of the founders of the revised EPF Constitution and By Laws instituted in 1987. Previous to this year, the IPF Constitution and Bylaws prevails for all IPF Regions.

From 1995 to 2003, Heiner Koberich was the IPF GS – a position he held simultaneously to the EPF GS and Treasurer position. He was as well the Championship Computer Secretary at numerous European and World championships.

Heiner Koberich played an important position in international powerlifting for about 20 years.

May he rest in peace!

Arnulf Wahlstrøm and Gaston Parage on behalf of the EPF and IPF Executive.
