On 03-04 of March, on the invitation of the Ukrainian Powerlifting Federation (UPF), the President of the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) Bjorn Astad has visited Ukraine and attended to witness the National Bench Press Championship.
Mr. Astad noted that the championship in Mukachevo stood out not only for its competitive atmosphere but also for the exceptionally high level of organization.
Bjorn Astad was deeply impressed by Ukraine’s resilience and the strength shown by Ukrainian athletes despite the difficult circumstances the country has faced in recent years.
Throughout his visit, Mr. Astad reiterated the EPF’s strong support for Ukrainian sport, recognizing the challenges the country has faced due to the ongoing conflict. He commended the Ukrainian powerlifting community for continuing to thrive and inspire, despite the hardships.
Bjorn Astad expressed hope for organizing a future European Powerlifting Championship in Ukraine once the war ends. Mr. Astad's words were met with enthusiasm by the athletes and officials present, and they resonated as a beacon of hope for a brighter future for Ukrainian sports.
The Ukrainian Powerlifting Federation awarded Mr.Astad with the honourable board for the valuable input in the development of powerlifting in Europe and Ukraine.
