Adam Roczek, President of the European Universities Sports Association (EUSA), recently attended the European Classic Powerlifting Cup in Luxembourg, where he officiated at the opening ceremony alongside Bjorn Astad, President of the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF), and Gaston Parage, President of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).
"I was really impressed by the performance of the athletes. I believe that we can discover another sport that could be included in the programme of the European University Sport Association," said Mr Roczek.
EPF President Bjorn Astad admitted: "It is obvious that the European Powerlifting Federation (EPF) and EUSA share a common vision for the growth of the sport and I'm optimistic about the future cooperation between our organisations.
The 2027 EUSA Powerlifting Championships will be a landmark event, highlighting the growing interest in powerlifting among university students across Europe.
The collaboration between EPF and EUSA looks promising, with both organisations committed to increasing the visibility and opportunities for athletes in the sport of powerlifting. "The synergy between EPF and EUSA will undoubtedly lead to more events and collaborations bringing together athletes, coaches and sports enthusiasts from across Europe," concluded Mr Astad.
Reflecting on the experience, Mr Roczek shared his excitement for the future of powerlifting within the European student sport community. "I believe that we will continue our cooperation and that the powerlifting events will be organised regularly, and I believe that in the near future there is also a chance for powerlifting to become one of the sports at the European Students Games".
