In the men’s competition, 83 kg class Simon Soderlund of Lund University, Sweden set a new EUSA bench record with his 180 kg press.  Maxim Uebel of the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden set a new EUSA bench record to end the 93 kg bench session with 190.5 kg.  In this bench session alone, Sweden won first, second and third.  Then we saw another new EUSA deadlift record by Erik Lindblad of Chalmers University of Technology, Sweden, with 302.5 kg.  in the 105 kg class Emil Johansson of Umea University, Sweden, set a new EUSA record with all three of his attempts and finishing with a 278 kg lift.    Bench brought two more records for Johansson and then again in deadlift, records were smashed, this time by Grzelak Szymon of WSB University Torun, Poland, and Mateusz Baginski of Wroclaw University, Poland.  In the 120 kg class, Mircea Moise of Romanian American University Bucharest, Romania, set a new men´s EUSA squat record of 272.5 kg.

What a great competition for the Swedish Universities!  And a fantastic competition all round with awesome performances from all the athletes.   It was exciting right up to the last lift in an electric atmosphere where everybody was cheering everybody, a great friendly competition with lots of close-run battles with impressively high standards, excellent technique, and lots of drama.    These young people were fantastic ambassadors for their universities and for the sport, raising the bar for the future of powerlifting.  Well done to all who participated in this efficiently executed, well presented, friendly competition!
