EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY CUP, ALBI, FRANCE 16th to 18th MARCH 2023

This European University Cup competition, in beautiful Albi, France , showcased some of the best University lifters in Europe.  With over 120 competitors from ten countries, we saw lots of EUSA record lifts and PB´s in all the weight classes.  Ellen Akesson, of Linkoping University, Sweden, set a new women´s – 63kg EUSA DEADLIFT RECORD with a deadlift of 190 kgs and a new EUSA BENCH RECORD with 100 kg, while Mathilde Rosset of University of Grenoble, France set a new -63 kg EUSA SQUAT RECORD with 165 kg.   Also, a new -84 kg EUSA SQUAT RECORD of 168 kg for Nusa Zekeznik of University of Ljubljana,Slovenia.  

Best female lifters were

2. Lea Gratacos, University of Toulouse, France
3. Ellen Akesson, Linkoping University, Sweden

And best women´s team points

1. University of Toulouse, France
2. University of Picardy, France
3. University of Lyon, France

In the men’s sections, there were great performances across all the weight classes.  In the -93 kg class the three Swedes, Erik Hartman, Mattias Svensson and Simon Soderland were on the podium together for the bench medals.    Emil Johansson, of Umea University, Sweden set a new 105 kg EUSA SQUAT RECORD of 293 kg. And also in the -105 kg class, Eliam Chandeu of University of Lyon, France set a new EUSA BENCH RECORD of 188 kgs and a new DEADLIFT RECORD of 326 kg. In front of a large audience on the final day, the -120 and 120+ kg men provided a session of big fights and PB´s with 120kg+ Richard Klem of BRNO, University of Technology, Czechia, setting himself new PB´s in  squat, bench AND deadlift!

And best men´s team points

2. Military University of Technology, Poland
