European Open, Junior and Sub-Junior Men and Women Classic Championships, Vasteras, Sweden, 3rd to 12th December 2021

The European Powerlifting Federation and Swedish Powerlifting Federation welcome you to Vasteras, Sweden for the European Men’s and Women’s Classic Championships, 3rd to 12th December 2021.451 Athletes, 254 Male and 197 Females will be participating from 30 nations –  Austria,  Belgium, Bulgaria, Czechia, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Georgia, Germany, Great Britain, Hungary, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland and Ukraine.

Vasteras is a city in central Sweden on the shore of Lake Mälaren  100 kilometres west of Stockholm.  Winters are usually cold with a snow cover that lasts for several months, and the temperature may not rise above 15 °C (5 °F) in the middle of the day. Lake Mälaren is usually frozen from December until the end of March. Västerås has the largest lakeside commercial and recreational port in Scandinavia. The lake has many islands, and there are tourist boats that go out to them.

The city also has a skyscraper colloquially nicknamed "Skrapan" which has Sweden's highest-located cocktail bar, called Sky Bar, on the 24th floor of the building. Stockholm is very easy to get to from Vasteras, with a train to Stockholm Central Station taking under one hour.

Julmarknad/ Christmas market

Very nice with an olde worlde feeling. Here you can buy old fashioned candy and gifts. The market is open every year from the first weekend of December.

Kokpunkten Actionbad – Water Park

Kokpunkten Water Park is located just behind the Steam Hotel on the main harbour. The eight story former steam power station has been transformed into an action-packed water park suitable for adults and children alike.  Not only does the park offer adrenaline pumping rides such as waterslides, but there are also hot tubs, saunas and a heated (34 degrees) open-air outdoor pool on the eight floor that overlooks the Lake Mälaren.  There’s also an area for adults only, the Boiling Point Relax, where you can relax in a hot spring, enjoy a sauna or immerse yourself in an invigorating aroma bath.
