The hotel rates for this Championship are now lowered by 13-22% compared to the first invitation published. This has been possible after negotiations and goodwill from the hotels.
One must be aware when the organiser pre-books up to 80% (or more) of the hotel capacity, the hotel room rate increases as demand for rooms increases. This is how the market forces works (supply & demand). The remaining hotel rooms may then be advertised at a lower rate than normal as the hotel attempts to fill the hotel to maximal capacity. If an individual attempts to book 1-10 rooms then the hotel does not see this as a big demand & will usually offer ‘standard/typical’ room rates, hence they appear lower than the EPF competition rates.
This is one of the challenges an organizer has when preparing a championship – he is obliged to make hotel reservations that secure every lifter and official bed and breakfast.
