Hamar: is a historic important city in Norway because it was a bishopric(still is) and had a cathedral in the medieval times. You can visit the ruins of the cathedral called Domkirkeruinene. This is located by Mjøsa, Norways biggest lake, not far from the hotel.
Today Hamar is a pretty big norwegian city with about 30.000 inhabitants. Close to the venue is Hamar Stadion, a very big shopping mall. And also close is different super markets and grocery stores. The city also have decent restaurants. Recommended is to take a walk from the hotel down to the train station and further vest along the coast of Mjøsa till you get to Domkirkeruinene.
But remember we are in Norway in the middle of September. The weather can be anything from sunny and hot to rainy and cold. Hopefully and most likely no snow yet. If bad weather a trip to Ankerskogen can be recommended that a very nice swimming pool and aqualand, they have a new spa with different saunas and hot and cold baths, at a reasonable price. this is not far from the hotel
